When is Furniture Disassembly and Assembly right for you?
Furniture dismantling and reassembly is to allow movable furniture to pass safely through doorways and corridors, before reassembling it to its original structure. The service first identifies joining methods, signs of aging, and space at the new location; it does not treat wall-mounted construction, repairs, or modifications as standard dismantling.
Original modular furniture needs to be reassembled according to its existing structure at the new location.
Relocations where lifts or corners are too narrow, requiring the reduction of component sizes.
Furniture Disassembly and Assembly process
Structural inspection
Review photos, dimensions, fixing points, and existing wear and tear.
Dismantling and marking
Dismantle at reversible joints, categorising parts and matching them to main components.
Protected transport
Protect edges and corners of panels; hardware is transported with the same piece of furniture.
Original reassembly
Reassemble to the original structure in the designated position and perform a basic stability check.
What's included?
Included in your quote
- Assess general dismantleable areas of furniture as listed in the quotation.
- Dismantle movable parts and provide basic protection for panels.
- Sort and bag original screws, shelf supports, and small hardware.
- Reassemble and position according to the original method upon arrival.
Requires separate confirmation
- Wall-mounted units, overhead cabinets, custom furniture, or installation/removal involving building surfaces.
- Replacing missing parts, repairing chips, correcting warping, or modifying dimensions.
- Any electrical, plumbing, gas, or fixed equipment connections.
What affects your quote?
Joining method
The reversibility of structures joined by screws, wooden dowels, glue, or nails varies.
Component size and quantity
The number of doors, shelves, and large panels affects dismantling and protection procedures.
Usage condition
Dampness, looseness, rust, or previous modifications increase the risk of not being able to restore to original condition.
Constraints at both locations
Both the degree of dismantling at the origin and the assembly space at the new location must be considered.
Checklist
Prepare these details or photos before requesting a quote
- 1Photograph the front, back, interior, and all fixing points of the furniture.
- 2Provide brand, model, dimensions (LxWxH), and installation manuals (if any).
- 3Point out loose areas, cracks, missing parts, or any self-made modifications.
- 4Empty contents from cabinets and remove mattresses and drawer clutter.
- 5Measure the placement position at the new location and photograph skirting boards, electrical sockets, and surrounding space.
Aged panels may not be restorable after dismantling.
Damp fibreboard, glued structures, and stripped screw holes may become further loosened during dismantling; we decide whether to dismantle after confirming the risks.
Frequently asked questions
Can old modular cabinets always be reassembled?
Not necessarily; furniture that is glued, made of aged fibreboard, or has loose joints may not be able to recover its original stability after dismantling.
Can you also fix cabinets to the wall?
Standard reassembly is only based on the original structure; drilling and fixing to walls require confirmation of wall type, conduits, and appropriate procedures, and is not automatically included.
What happens if parts are lost?
The team will sort and safeguard existing parts; if parts were missing before dismantling, this will be recorded, and procurement or repair of accessories must be confirmed separately.
